Habera's wild trout report to highlight August meeting
Jim Habera, TWRA biologist, will present his annual Wild Trout report at Thursday's meeting at the House of Ribs at 7 p.m. Habera's great presentations and his ability to answer questions about the wild trout population is a much-anticipated event.
Come, and bring a friend or two.
Charles Martin will be tying the "La Fontaine Sparkle Emerger" at the fly-tying demonstration beginning at 6:15 p.m.
The social hour
begins at 6 p.m. followed by a brief business meeting at 7:00.
Fishing for Smallmouth Topic at July Meeting
Saltville guide instructs On smallmouth fishing
Everyone who attended
the July meeting is now much better informed on fishing for smallmouth
bass in the North Fork of the Holston River and the New River.
Our thanks to
Barry Loupe, owner of the Northfork Guide Service in Saltville, Va., for
sharing his experience and insights into the history and techniques for
fishing these two streams.
Thanks, Barry,
and come back to see us soon.
Good news from Cooperative Meeting in Knoxville
TWRA's Rick Bivins
reported heavy stocking of the Watauga River above and below North American
Rayon when he spoke to the Cold Water Resources Cooperative meeting in
Knoxville July 22.
Bivins also acknowledged
that large fish had been caught in the lower tailwater. Good news for anglers
and environmentalist in Upper East Tennessee.
Overmountain Chapter
members Bill Beazell and Jack West spoke with Wayne Poppe of TVA about
high water temperatures caused by lack of generation and insufficient pulsing.
Poppe promised to work with the chapter to see what could be done to deal
with the problem. Beazell, West, and Bob Sherrill also attended the TU
Council meeting later in the day.
