The Silver Trout Award was presented to the Chapter at the National Trout Unlimited meeting in Knoxville, TN in August 1997.
 
 

The Tennessee Conservation League presented the "Outstanding Conservation Organization" award jointly to the Overmountain Chapter and North American Fibers for their efforts in conducting an annual stream cleanup on the Watauga River and Carter County Clean Streams.  The award was presented at the League's annual meeting in May 1997.
 
 

Mr. Ernest Blankenship, Special Assistant to the Commissioner, Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, presented a Letter of Appreciation to the Chapter in August, 1998 for protecting and restoring coldwater resources and watersheds in Tennessee.
 
 
 

The Honorable Secretary of Interior, Bruce Babbitt, forwarded the U.S. Department of Interior "Volunteer Service Award - 1992-1993" to the Overmountain Chapter for the  fine volunteer work and leadership that contributed measurably toward making the American community and landscape as strong and beautiful as possible.  Mr. Babbitt wrote to Lynn Smith, Chapter President during 1992-1993, stating:  "Thank you for setting an outstanding example of community leadership."
