members contest Now underway
Bob Ripley, region
IV manager for TWRA, will update chapter members on the agency's activities
for the year at our March meeting.
Don't miss it. This
is a chance to pick up important information and ask questions about wildlife
management in East Tennessee.
We'll be meeting
on Thursday, March 9, at 6 p.m. at the House of Ribs as usual
. Mike Adams will
tie the famous "Charlie Whopper" at the fly-tying demonstration beginning
at 6:15 p. m.
Come early and bring
a friend. You can get a jump on the new members contest.

The
Hiwassee offers more than just great fishing
The Hiwassee River,
a tailwater of the TVA reservoir systems that flows through the Cherokee
National Forest, is noted for its superb dry fly fishing for rainbows and
browns from early spring to late fall and great streamer fishing for brown
trout in the winter months.
But Tic Smith,
of Hiwassee Outfitters in Reliance, TN, told the chapter's February meeting
that it has much more to offer those who love the outdoors.
"Along the Hiwassee
you can see many different wildlife species such as white-tailed deer,
wild boar, osprey, and a variety of other birds," Smith said.
He also said the
water is exceptionally pure because the area is more than 90 percent forest.
Hiwassee Outfitters
offers comfortable accommodations, including cabins, a large campground,
and hot showers.
If you're interested
in a trip, you can contact Tic at 423-338-8115; 800-338-8133 or visit his
web site at: www.hiwasseeoutfitters.com

Last chance to win King bamboo fly rod
The beautiful
bamboo fly rod built by R. L. "Bob" King will be given away to some lucky
ticket holder at the March meeting.
Bob donated all
the considerable labor for this beauty to be used as a chapter fund-raiser.
Thanks, Bob. We appreciate all your effort on our behalf.
