Minutes of September Board Meeting
1. Bill Beazell reported that the South Holston River Cleanup on August 9 was
very successful.
2. The Todd Burleson Memorial Stream Cleanup at Roan Mountain is scheduled for Saturday, September 27 at 9am at Burbank Freewill Baptist Church. Lunch will be served and participants will be eligible for a future drawing for a hand made fly rod crafted by Joe Byrd.
3.. Bill Beazell reported that Elaine Walker and Foster Levy will make a"River/Stream Watch" report on North and South Indian and Rocky Fork Creeks at the September Chapter Meeting. They will include an update on the Embrace-A-Stream Project done on Rocky Fork Creek several years ago by the Chapter and the Forest Service.
4. The Embrace-A-Stream Project on Buffalo Creek is ready to begin pending the selection of a contractor by the City of Elizabethon to do the work.
5. Initial contacts with TWRA personnel indicated support for further discussion of testing and licensing for commercial fishing guides. Ken Chase and Gary Barrigar will discuss this with other TU members at the upcoming Public Relation Conference at Townsend. The board also discussed contacting local fishing guides to get their input and ascertain their willingness to write supporting letters to TWRA. It was also agreed that this topic should be brought to the attention of the Tennessee TU Council at the next Council meeting.
6. Based on the recent survey of members at the August Chapter Meeting and the Board Members, the Board discussed not holding a meeting in December and reducing meetings during the summer season. No final decisions were made.
7. The next meeting of the Board was scheduled for Monday October 6 at 7pm at the Eastman Credit Union in Downtown Kingsport at 200 E. Main Street.

Todd Burleson Memorial Cleanup in Roan Mountain on September 27th. Meet at the
Burbank Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. We plan to have picnic following the cleanup.
